Cologne Cathedral
Cologne Cathedral, or Kölner Dom, is a soaring Gothic masterpiece and UNESCO World Heritage site that dominates Cologne’s skyline. Begun in the 1240s and completed in the 19th century, it houses the Shrine of the Three Kings and one of Europe’s most splendid interiors, with radiant stained glass, flying buttresses, and a cavernous nave. Visitors can tour its chapels, climb the South Tower for sweeping Rhine views, and behold the grand facade at close quarters. Expect crowds, helpful audio guides, and a sense of awe at Germany’s largest cathedral.
