Turku Castle
Turku Castle, a sprawling fortress perched along the Aurajoki river, began in the late 13th century and grew into Finland’s largest surviving medieval castle. Today it serves as a museum complex with permanent and temporary exhibits about medieval life, the castle’s sieges, and Finnish history. Visitors can explore well-preserved ramparts, towers, and halls, join guided tours, and view period artifacts, models, and rare antiques. The atmospheric courtyards and atmospheric dungeons give a sense of life under centuries of changing rulers.
