Hassan II Mosque
Perched along Casablanca’s Atlantic shoreline, the Hassan II Mosque is one of Africa’s most iconic religious sites and a landmark of modern Moroccan architecture. Designed by Michel Pinseau and completed in 1993, it features the world’s second-tallest minaret (200 meters) and a cliff-edge setting with a glass-sea floor that reveals the Atlantic below. Inside, lush marble, intricate tilework, and a retractable roof create a sense of serenity for visitors and worshippers alike. Guided tours illuminate the mosque’s prayer hall, marble courtyards, and the mosque’s social programs, while strict etiquette and modest dress provide a respectful experience.
