Chillon Castle
Chillon Castle is a medieval fortress perched on a rocky promontory along Lake Geneva, near Montreux in the canton of Vaud. This well-preserved complex, with towers, dungeons and Renaissance halls, offers a vivid look at centuries of Swiss history and feudal life. Visitors wander sunlit courtyards, cross drawbridges, and explore candlelit rooms filled with period furnishings, frescoes and siege memories. The lakeside setting provides dramatic views of the water and mountains, while informative exhibits and an excellent audio guide bring legends of prisoners and princes to life.
