Not far from Chisinau, in the town of Milestii Mici, there are famous wine cellars, which in 2005 were included in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest in Europe. The underground gallery, which stores about 1.5 million bottles of locally produced wine, is 200 kilometres long. Here you can taste and then buy your favourite wine.

Alexandru Ciubotaru National Botanical Garden

The Chisinau Botanical Garden is a popular holiday destination, despite the fact that it is located on the outskirts of the city. It was founded in 1950, but it was established in its present location only in 1965. Curchi Monastery

In the small village of Kurki, close to a forest and a river, there is a popular Orthodox monastery. The hermitage, which was later transformed into a monastery, appeared in Kurki as early as 1773. National History Museum of Moldova

Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ's Nativity

The cathedral, in the style of Russian classicism, was erected in the centre of Chisinau between 1830 and 1836 as part of the general development of the city. During the Second World War, the cathedral was badly damaged, and in 1962 its bell tower was blown up and the building was converted into an exhibition hall. In 1991, the cathedral was returned to the church, and restoration work continues to this day.

Tipova Monastery

In a picturesque place on the bank of the Dniester River, a large rock monastery was founded in the 6th century. According to one legend, the lord Stefan III the Great was married here. The Tsypovo monastery flourished in the XVIII century, but during the Soviet period the place was closed. Since 1994, the monastery has been holding church services again.

Capriana Monastery

Near Kishinev there is one of the oldest Orthodox monasteries in Bessarabia – the Kapriani Holy Dormition Monastery, the first mention of which dates back to 1420. Metropolitan Gavriil was buried here in 1821, and from 1962 to 1989 the monastery was closed. After restoration in 2002-2005, the Kapriyansky Monastery was reopened for spiritual life.

Alexander Pushkin Museum

In February 1948, the opening of the Pushkin House-Museum in Kishinev took place. The museum was created in the former guest house of merchant Naumov, where the poet lived from 1820 to 1823. Soroca Fortress
