The most interesting and beautiful tourist sites in Batumi

Photos, reviews, descriptions, and links to maps

About Batumi

Batumi is a resort and port city located on the Black Sea coast. Throughout history, representatives of different ethnic groups have lived on this territory. This has left a trace both in the region’s past, as evidenced by archaeological finds, and in the present, for example, in architecture. As Batumi is a cultural, religious and economic centre, the tourism industry has different directions. The contrast of the mountainous areas and the coastal zone makes the area particularly picturesque.

One of the most beautiful sights is the Botanical Garden. In addition to the species diversity of plants, it also surprises with its appearance. Among the new objects it is worth mentioning the sculpture “Ali and Nino”. It not only looks unusual, but can also move. So the legend comes to life before your eyes.

Batumi Piazza

The project was designed by Vazha Orbeladze in 2010. The piazza is designed in Venetian style and lacks Georgian flavour. The latter does not prevent the square from being a favourite place for locals and visitors alike. There are shops and restaurants, and sometimes artists perform in the open air. The construction was carried out at the intersection of pedestrian streets, so the noise of the city coming here is minimal.

There are many architectural features in this neighbourhood, as houses were built in different periods and in mixed styles. World celebrities often choose the square for their performances. Singing fountains in the evening become the centre of attraction for the citizens. There is also a statue of Medea with a golden fleece in the shells. The total height of the structure is 130 metres.

Installed on the Theatre Square. The golden Neptune is surrounded by three tiers of mermaids. In the past, a monument to writer I. Chavchavadze stood in this place. But for tourists, the attraction is of genuine interest. A full-fledged walking zone has been created around it.
