About Bahrain

Bahrain is an island nation in Southwest Asia. It occupies one large island and 32 small islands. The country’s main riches are pearls and oil. The results of a successful oil industry can be seen in the wealth and splendour of the capital Manama, and one of the pearl farms is easy to visit on a guided tour. The capital of Bahrain offers tourists all the services and entertainment of a modern city. National colour, almost untouched, can be found on the popular island of Al Muharraq.

The country’s landscape is deserted, although locals manage to grow dates, mangoes, citrus fruits, pomegranates and bananas. On the islands there are many beaches and hotels of high level of comfort. The sun shines almost all year round, the warm sea is rich in beautiful underwater landscapes and inhabitants. Water sports such as diving and snorkelling are widespread. Horse riding, golf and motor racing are also popular. Modern infrastructure and grounds for active recreation have been built for them.

The local flavour is best experienced in the markets. Large and modern, they offer exotic fruits, vegetables, local products and spices. There are special markets for gold, textiles. The cuisine is exquisite, in addition to the traditional Arab cuisine, almost all famous culinary schools and directions are represented. There are a lot of restaurants and cafes. As souvenirs you can bring jewellery with pearls, beautiful local fabrics, ceramics, dates. The climate in the country is hot and humid, so it is best to visit it in winter or early spring.
