This is a great location within walking distance of lots of shopping and restaurants. The metro stop is about a block away - very convenient. We ate at a huge variety of restaurants. Most organized tours will pick up at the hotel or within a block or two. The buffet was nice, and we found a great little restaurant that did breakfast sandwiches and coffee a block away. The bathroom was huge and the room was great.

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.
The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.
Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.
South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.
Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

I liked the restaurants that we went to, Smith Street Bisto in Smith street Collingwood was a fabulous french restaurant and the Thai Fusion Restaurant just around the corner in Bourke Street called Bali Hai was the best , I had Khao Soi ,and Thai Milk Tea Tirimisu ,what a fantastic meal. The Secret Kitchen opposite was a total rip off and I would never go there again. Plenty of live theatre in exhibition street and the start of China Town is just outside Rydges Hotel

My feelings toward Melbourne involve personal issues that mde my stay here stressful. I will say that if you are staying for more than a week or two and rent a place with a kitchen, definitely do all your shoping at the Victoria Market. It's only open on Tuesday, Thursday and the Weekend but the quality of meats/fish/poultry/fruits and vegetables is excellent and well priced! If you are celiac and need gluten-free options, they are easy to find, with the BEST GF bread and foccscia at the Vic Market.

Came to Melbourne to visit my mum, my husband had only travelled to Melbourne for work, so we took the time to see some sights, such as Queen Victoria Markets, the old shot tower Museum in Melbourne Central, The Old Melbourne Goal, and the holding cells experience, so much fun and worth the visit. Went and saw Beetlejuice the Musical, at the Regent Theatre, spectacular. Melbourne Zoo was wonderful, added on the Koala experience, and so worth the visit. We also did the Melbourne Haunted Pub tour, which was very informative and quirky, finished the week off attending the Harry Potter Expedition.
We stayed in Mercure in Little Burke Street, location was wonderful, walking distance to so many places.
So, if you are considering a Melbourne trip, do it, I booked most of our tickets online, prior to arriving which made it a very stress-free experience. But still so much more to see, another trip will be arranged.

Melbourne is a beautiful city with many green places and spaces. The transportation makes it easy to get around; and there are many original and excellent eating places. People are very happy to help you sort out your unknowns.
All in all one of the best cities I have been in including abroad.

Your facility was opposite the Spencer Street Station which was great as we travelled from Regional Victoria to come to Melbourne and stay.
From your facility we could catch free tram transport to all venues we needed to get to and not having to worry about car parking.

The Victoria Hotel is in a good location in the Melbourne CBD. Easy to walk to many attractions as well as close to the city circle tram. The reception staff were lovely & helpful. Unfortunately the rooms were not being cleaned until late afternoon & therefore we missed having the room cleaned a couple of times. The room was big enough for 4 people, unfortunately the bathroom was tiny. It made it hard to get ready. Overall the accommodation was okay, however nothing special.
Great location between CBD and Docklands. Tram access to all parts of the city, 5 minute walk. Spenser St outlet including Coles only a block away. Restaurants/cafes and bars surround the Atlantis Hotel.
The hotel staff and accommodation were excellent. The breakfast option was great and a good way to start a busy day. The pool and sauna were amazing. Gym facilities were great. I will book again when visiting Melbourne.
The hotel is super central to the CBD and Southbank. It is within walking distance to amazing restaurants and bars and Flinders Station is less than a 5 minute walk so you have easy train access. The room was so super comfortable. We loved our 2 night stay and I will definitely be staying here when I'm back in Melbourne. The price was fantastic too for a 5-star property!
Location is amazing to Melbourne’s CBD, public transport & Southbank. Their quick resolve to make good on our booking when they first informed us the hotel was at capacity and our bedding configuration wasn’t available. After a few minutes we miraculously had the room we had booked. Beds and pillows were comfy.
Been to hotel Sophia in the past and it is definitely one of the best places for a short stay in Melbourne. Proximity to Southern Cross Station makes it a no brainer for travelling from/to Tullamarine Airport and also walking distance to the CBD area/free tram precinct.
