Charming and compact Bratislava is the world’s only capital city bordering two countries, Austria and Hungary, and centers around the beautiful Danube River. South is the modern city and a peaceful forest, but the real Bratislava attractions are over Novy Most (New Bridge), an impressive structure with a UFO-like pylon. The castle on a rock overlooking the Old Town offers the best views of it. The rock itself has a Jewish cemetery and a literally underground club.
Across the street, St. Martin’s Cathedral was the coronation site of past Hungarian kings. The cobbled streets behind are lined with outdoor restaurants and bars. The city’s specialty is treska, a cold cod salad, washed down with white wine from the nearby Small Carpathian mountains.
The main square is Hlavne namestie, home to pastel-colored buildings, a 14th-century town hall housing the city museum, and the Bratislava Christmas markets. Hodzovo namestie square features the Peace Earth sculpture and Baroque Grassalkovich Palace, the presidential residence guarded by the Slovak National Guard. Across the park is the Archiepiscopal Palace, seat of the government. All around are many Bratislava hotels, B&Bs and apartments available on Booking.com.
Before heading to Bratislava Airport, visit Kamzìk TV tower, whose revolving restaurant and observation deck offer magnificent city views.

A beautiful town, spoiled by its desire to attract partying Brits and stag do’s. For the size of town there was far too many Thai Massage places, but at least they all promised happy endings before you left
Felt sorry for the locals.

Really interesting place
Really interesting place
Great walking and bike and car tours
UFO bridge great
Disappointing that all museums closed on mondays
Food and restaurants very good but we were disappointed when charged 1.50euro for a glass of tap water - we were told tht is the culture in Bratislava
Also all restaurants seem to be adding a service charge. The waiter said "Oh, that is not for us (waiters and staff)"
If that is the case, then who is the service charge for.
Do we have to give a tip on top of the service charge - I don't think so.

The old city area was gorgeous to say the least!
The old city area was gorgeous to say the least! The public transport network also seemed to work extremely well and was quite cheap, so you will never end up stranded somewhere. The food was also very good! It was a very positive surprise since I had never heard of Slovak cuisine before. Walking around the old city, visiting the Bratislava castle and the Devín castle ruins are a must. The infrastructure outside of the old city area could be better, but that was the only thing I did not like of my stay.

We liked the Old Town a lot, also the Bratislava Castle.
We liked the Old Town a lot, also the Bratislava Castle. We loved the small restaurants and terraces. It is a vibrant city. We had very good traditional Slovak meal one evening and some Seoul wok on another evening. It was a very pleasant stay. The only thing we did not like was how difficult it was to get bus tickets. But we had nice walks. Bratislava is excellent for a city break.

Bratislava is a nice little town.
Bratislava is a nice little town. It is only an hour or so from Vienna. In hindsight, as we were coming to Vienna, it might have been less hastle to do a day-trip from Vienna and avoid the packing and unpacking and carrying the luggage.

excellent bus service from airport to city train station, every 15 mins, 1.6 euros. great bus & tram services in city. easy walking, good signage. very friendly city, low tourist numbers, great food, beer & wine. service everywhere we went was excellent. thoroughly recommend. Some excellent restaurants include, Colettes, Fabrika, Modrá Hviezda. A great find was the 'Underground Tea Room', great selection of teas & the young lady serving was so knowledgeable with all things tea. Another great find was the 'Vegan Kiosk', great vegan food.

the hotel is kept well and offers a lot of facilities. The staff were amazing in every area of the hotel very friendly patient courteous and simply made our stay even better as they were always helpful and always ready with a smile. The breakfast is very good and of quality catering well for vegans too. The room was slightly on the small side but still comfortable and clean. Housekeeping are very good too. We were very satisfied at this hotel. Distance from old town is like 20 mins on foot and same distance for Bratislava castle.
Hotel Saffron is situated a 20 minute walk from the Historic centre of Bratislava in what appears to be a called the Old Town. How do we known this? One night we hired Bolt taxis to take our group of 11 in three cars. All three parties of our group where dropped no more than a two min walk from the hotel despite expecting to be in the Historic area. In reality this suited us fine as we needed an earlier night after a long day in Vienna.
Perfect stay. Clean comfortable room with all the mod cons/facilities we needed - easy to access from the river and city centre. Great breakfast choices and we ate in the hotel restaurant and sampled the brewery beers. Lovely friendly and helpful staff - cannot praise this hotel highly enough. Would happily recommend and stay here again. Thank you so much Loft Hotel Bratislava😀
Versatile breakfast, I loved strawberries, honey and "minidonuts." Location near Bratislava Castle (which was disappointment, but anyway), short walk to streets of old town and to banks of Donau for morning run. Trams near the hotel, but no disturbing noise.
