Valencia is a beautiful city, less crowded than Seville or Barcelona, with a wonderful Spanish atmosphere and laid back approach. It has amazing historic sites, including the Lonja de la Seda and cathedral, the fabulous Mercado Central, beautiful churches, numerous museums, and attractive plazas with fountains and palm trees. There is a vast selection of restaurants, bars and cafes with food to suit all tastes. On the site of the dried river bed are the Jardines del Turia, a beautiful park which runs through the centre of the city, perfect for walking, cycling, and keeping fit. A bus ride away are glorious beaches with golden sand, and the spectacularly modern architecture of the Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias. Hardly anybody spoke English like in other cities in Spain. Go see the city before all the tourists hit it in the Summer. We love the park area, visited the science park oceanographic. Would recommend to Check times in advance for dolphin shows which we missed due to lack of time, Lots of walking wear sensible shoes, We ate twice at a restaurant at placa redona which was excellent.
