Capital City With Small Town Charm
The charming Slovenian capital of Ljubljana is the only large city in the country. Dominated by Castle Hill with the medieval Ljubljana Castle on top, the city is a picturesque mix of Balkan architectural styles, romantic bridges and scenic views.
Due to two major earthquakes in 1511 and 1895 that destroyed many buildings, the Old Town features a range of styles: from Roman to Medieval Baroque and Viennese Secession. Loved walking around old Town and pedestrian streets. Lots of tourists but not that crowded as some other European cities. We felt safe and welcome. If you are just regular traveler, then one day in Ljubljana is enough. Other websites suggested that there is interesting alternative area in Ljubljana to visit- Metelkova. Breakfast is cooked on the spot so it is warm and healthy.
