FAQs about hotels in Amsterdam

The Best Culture and Nightlife this Side of a Canal

Jump on your city bike or hop on a canal boat and admire Amsterdam, the Venice of the North! The beautiful city houses, romantic bridges, iconic canals and street cafés create its unique atmosphere and give you an ultimate taste of its fascinating past.

Famous for its museums, most important of which are located in the Museumplein, Amsterdam offers you a chance to see unforgettable masterpieces by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan and more. The Anne Frank House is a sobering reminder of the city’s more recent history. After a lot of walking, the Rijksmuseum is a great place to rest and get some extra culture before visiting Amsterdam’s lovely Vondelpark.

The medieval Old Center with the always busy Dam Square and the tempting Red Lights District is the most visited part of Amsterdam. Make sure to stop at Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, homes to the best nightlife venues.

Shop till you drop at Amsterdam’s most luxury shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, the most popular street market at Albert Cuyp or in the fancy design shops of the Jordaan district. Famous pancakes and frites with mayonnaise are a must-try! The more adventurous traveler might want to try the pickled herring, followed closely by a local beer.

All these attractions are just a short train ride from the Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Whether you want to stay at a cozy hotel on a canal, a modern apartment in a quiet part of the city or a room in the center of everything, Booking.com has a perfect accommodation for your Amsterdam vacation.

What Guests Said About Amsterdam:

We loved the vibe in Amsterdam.

We loved the vibe in Amsterdam. It's easy to navigate and public transport is easy to use. There are many things to see and would recommend Anne Frank house, bodyworlds, many museums and a boat tour. There are many to choose from. It can obviously get crowded especially in the evenings but it never feels aggressive and everyone is friendly. We would recommend Days stonegrill to eat at, it was good food and a nice treat, we ate there twice from 3 evenings.

A vibrant city that offers a range of attractions but is also easy to just sit and enjoy. We loved the canals which, in our opinion, are better than Venice's! We used trams and buses to get around with tap on/off using a credit card making paying very easy. We used a mixture of eating out and shopping at supermarkets. There were some standouts in Restaurant - Café Scheltema, which is a must for fans of the TV show Van Der Valk, with delicious food and great staff, and Het Bosch - Waterfront Kitchen which was also very good. Our accomodation provided cycles to use, which we used for local shopping and laundromat which was a little far to walk. Amsterdam is setup for cycling but, even for experienced cyclists, the density and attitude of local cyclists can be very confronting.

Good for a 3 day break.

Good for a 3 day break. Everything was in walking distance if you’re prepared to walk a mile or so from the centre. Bikes are good way to get around. It was busy and litter a major problem. Parts are pretty seedy but as with all cities, lots of diffeeent zones and good places to eat. The canals and cycle ways and Dutch buildings are great. Take a canal cruise and hire a bike.

City is very historical and you can enjoy during your trip in museums, cafes, restaurants, parks, etc… Canals are really clean and well designed. Transportation is great with subway, train, bus, ferry… You can use credit card for almost everything. People can speak English and city is ready to meet your expectations.

We think the Dutch people are marvelous.

We think the Dutch people are marvelous. Very friendly and helpful. Nearly all of them speak English. Plenty of food options. Quite expensive but so is London. The escorted evening boat trip with unlimited coctails wine and beer was excellent. Staff and captain. Redlight pub crawl is really for kids under 40. Was there three nights but not been back for at least 20years. I have been there about 10/11 times in my and always had great fun. Cant recomend it highly enough. Always book the ANNE FRANK TOUR in advance!! Unable to get in there

Delightful canal district with charming restaurants, bars and shops. Also the museum area is airy and modern. Good cafes in the residential areas for breakfast. Be aware of the numerous lanes of traffic to cross - bike lane, car lane, tram lanes x 2, another car lane and then a final bike lane. Bikes rule! We walked a lot to get to chosen restaurants - usually about 35 minutes - but plenty to see along the way. Restaurants were booked before we left home - good restaurants are difficult to get into otherwise.

I loved my stay at Tribe Amsterdam City! The location is perfect, right next to the Gare du Nord, with easy access to the city centre. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the rooms are super comfortable. The breakfast was great, and having Market 27 next door for food was such a nice bonus—it’s really good. The parking is also a big plus: €25 per day, secure, and with electric chargers, which was super handy. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam!

This is a wonderful hotel. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about Amsterdam. The Lobby bar and beer garden are fabulous we were extremely lucky with late August sun so the fresh air of the beer garden was amazing after a day in Amsterdam City Centre. Complimentary waters and fruit plus welcoming drinks served at 3. The room was spotless and maid service daily. The hotel provides complementary travel kits if needed.

The location of the hotel is ideal if you want to be near the city centre (5-mins with the train) but not be in the busy areas of Amsterdam. The staff is very pleasant and provided help the moment we asked them. The room was quite spacious for 2 people and the bed was also big. Overall it was a good experience and definitely a value for money.

A cheap option not so far from Amsterdam centre at almost half the price compared to hotels closer to the city centre. Pool and ping pong tables down stairs that were fun when. Really nice coffee shop near by that had excellent brunch options. Took 12 min tram trip every morning to the centre costing 3.80 EUR per person each way.

Size of room, away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, modern, clean, proximity to Amsterdam Central Station. Fantastic to have Bus 48 (one stop from Amsterdam Central station) so near the hotel when it’s too cold to walk. Enjoyed the breakfast at iDock!
