Quiet city with slow pace of life.
Quiet city with slow pace of life. Very clean with lots of restaurants and bars. Everywhere we ate was amazing quality at very reasonable prices. There is also a lot of different options available which we didn’t expect.
We found all places of interest to be in walking distance of each other however for those that did struggle taxis and ride services like Bolt are available.

Kosice has outstandingly beautiful old town with sceneries and monumental buidings to be discovered for several days. St. Elisabeth cathedral is great sample of baroque architecture. Slovakian Technikal Museum was also interesting sight into the country's history of industries. Choice and level of restaurants even in winter time was a surprise. Language skills are moderate in this area. So you must be ready for communicational errors at some point.

The town centre, Hlavna St, is very picturesque and clean, and friendly to walkers. The railway station has good connections to other parts of Slovakia and international connections. The bus station also has good connections to other towns and cities, and surrounding countries.
Most of the people speak English, which is fortunate, as Slovakian bears no resemblance to West-Europe languages.
The tourist office was not open during my 2-week stay over Christmas, which was unfortunate, so I was unable to get advice about places to visit. The churches are amazing and worth visiting, as is the one in Presov main street, a 40-minute train trip (1.75 euros) away. The individual shops and malls, coffee shops and restaurants and cafes, are worth visiting, and at the top of the Hlavna St is a big modern shopping centre, Aupark. The third floor is the food area.

Disclaimer: This is my second time in the city, while the first I have visited it with locals.
Story/Culture: The city has a rich story, most of which can be discovered by visiting the main monument of the town: St. Elizabeth's Cathedral. In the complete tour option you will get to know most of the town's past, culture, and history.
Services: In the main square you'll find all you need. From bustling caffès, pubs, commerce, souvenirs shops, and restaurants to the monuments worth visiting.
The city center has two shopping centers, namely Urban and Aupark. However, the main square is already filled with very nice shops that will attend most of your capitalist needs.
Fotoaparat: If you are one photogrtapher traveller, there are two gear shops available within the city center with no need to commute to other parts of the city. The one next to Urban shopping center will have you covered with film stocks, mostly 135 and instant film. They also have a good selection of vintage gear, from cameras to lenses. The other one, located inside the Aupark center is more modern. You'll find modern gear and some filters options in case you forgot that CPL at home. They can also print yout digital photos there if you want so.

I was very pleased with my stay here. The building is very solid and the sound proofing was excellent. I slept like a log, unlike at some other hotels where you can hear every sound. It’s right on the edge of the Old Town. The staff are smiley and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised at the range and quality of the breakfast.
The hotel itself is modern and very clean. The aircon in my room was great - cooled everything down in no time. It was a single room but was spacious.
We booked in for one night's stay prior to going to the ballet in Kosice for my wife's birthday. The hotel was ideally located, literally opposite the theatre and ballet. Breakfast was great, really good choice of pastries and hot food, sausages and eggs etc. Good coffee machine and waiters happy to bring a stronger flat white coffee on request. Loved all the Art Deco on the walls too. Room a decent size, clean and comfortable.
Loved the spa part of the hotel, definitely would return. Just really get to relax and enjoy yourself. It is a bit secluded but taxis are cheap enough in Slovakia so didn’t mind that at all.
