From the get-go the staff were friendly and accommodative when I had submitted some questions online about late checkout and the shower. Then at the hotel the staff were all friendly and helpful regardless of the time of day/night. The room was as described - nothing special, but clean and definitely did the trick for a budget stay in Melb. Cannot go wrong with the location either! Was so easy to get around the city from the location, either via foot or tram. Oh and it's like a 10 min walk from the Southern Cross Railway station (or less by tram!) so was very easy to get from an airport Skybus to there.

FAQs about hotels in Melbourne

Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

    Terrilbe customer service.

Terrilbe customer service. It was convenient and central to cafes and southbank precinct. Lovely views, but the room was tired. Had to pay a $150 damage hold, yet the fridge and freezer had dents in them, and one of the blinds was broken. I took photos in case they tried to blame me and keep my $150. Not a place I would confidently refer to anyone. The supervisor was very helpful and lovely and promptly addressed my issues. Sadly, the damage had been done

We had a surprise 80th birthday. Visitors came from NZ. Had the lunch out at Williamstown by taking the city ferry there and back. Beautiful place to visit, Visited the Art Gallery, excellent. Enjoyed the light show out at the Royal Botanic gardens, wonderful. Had drinks and nibbles later in one of the many bars by the river. Had coffee in one of the many lane ways in Melbourne city. We took the tram a number of times around the city, all free . Love Melbourne, will be back very soon.

Spent three days in Melbourne, stayed in city centre which was excellent. Visited Yarro River, Federation Park, Marina in Docklands, Victoria Market (winter evening event ) and used the free circular tram around the city, which was great. All were well worth a visit. Had great street food at the evening Victoria Market, super choice of varied foods of the world. Great atmosphere, very busy, really enjoyed our evening there.

The one-bedroom apartment suited us perfectly. Easy access by tram to Melbourne CBD and main sporting and arts/culture attractions. The apartment was well laid out with all amenities including washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, TV and balcony. The bed was comfortable, the apartment was spotlessly clean and the host supplied everything needed for a wonderful holiday break. She even provided a loaf of home baked bread. We've stayed in many holiday apartments over the years and this was the best experience. Highly recommended!

The City Limits Hotel Apartments are in a perfect location. If you follow Little Bourke Street you find yourself right in the heart of Chinatown. Right around the corner is QV and Melbourne Central. Plenty of cafes and restaurants around and a 10 minute walk to the CBD. Daniel at Reception was amazing and he gave us plenty of recommendations and was absolutely lovely greeting us when we checked-in. Great staff is hard to come by and he’s definitely an asset 🤍

Great location for walking in all directions around Melbourne CBD. Very close to the Vic Markets and Southern Cross Station. Very clean rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. We stayed in the attached apartments building rather than the hotel so it was a bit more like an air b'n'b experience. The apartment was small but felt spacious, it was clean and comfortable for four adults.

Location is amazing to Melbourne’s CBD, public transport & Southbank. Their quick resolve to make good on our booking when they first informed us the hotel was at capacity and our bedding configuration wasn’t available. After a few minutes we miraculously had the room we had booked. Beds and pillows were comfy.
