We were traveling for two weeks staying in beautiful old style hotels in Italy and Switzerland. Our stay in Arte Hotel in Salzburg was on our way to Vienna, and, o God, how much we enjoyed the comfort of a modern hotel! Cleanliness, comfort, nice beds, sharp linens, spa, breakfast with a wonderful view of the Alps, everything was excellent!

I have stayed at this family run hotel in the Altstadt of Salzburg many times. It is close to everything I want to visit, rooms are clean and comfortable, Nice breakfast in the morning and wonderful staff. They kept me informed about all of the local activities. They had a 3 day music festival that I wasn’t expecting, but it wonderful to hear all kinds of music all over town, and all free. Staff kept me posted on the things I shouldn’t miss.

Clean room. Big bottle of shower gel in the shower. Not too far from the city by car. McDonalds and Burger King within 10 minutes of walking. Free parking, however you should not park in front of the hotel as there are companies in the same building and each company has its own parking spaces. You need to go behind the hotel where no signs of a company exists. There are plenty of parking spaces. Breakfast options were ok, all basic things were included, like cold cuts, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, cake and more.

FAQs about hotels in Salzburg

The Hills Are Alive in Salzburg

Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart International Airport.

Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus. The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.

The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.

The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.

Although there were a decent number of tourists, it wasn't too bad, and in an evening, they mostly weren't around. The city is beautiful, and with walks along the river, and trips to the New Town, or up to the castle, it was wonderful. We found everyone to be very friendly, and we certainly thought that there was plenty to see and do, and that we would need to come back again to experience the parts that we didn't get around to.

Salzburg is a great city to visit for a few days, or longer if using it as a base to visit other areas. Buses and trains very easy to use and the timetables are easy to follow. Out of town lots of lovely lakes, villages and mountains only about 1 hour away by bus.

Much to see! Did not have time to see at all. So many restaurants. I have been vegetarian almost 50 years and during my walk from the train station to the hotel, I found an organic vegetarian Indian cuisine restaurant. I ate dinner there and it was delicious!

We had a 4 night stay in Salzburg, which we found ideal for seeing all the important sights. Another advantage is that it is possible to take bus 25 from the main station to Hellbrunn Castle and the cable car to the Untersberg mountain, which are free with the Salzburg Card.

I loved wandering the streets of the old town and the beautiful pastel coloured architecture. We enjoyed a visit to the haus de natur museum in the morning as it was a rainy start and then also had a great trip on the funicular railway and discovered some of the history of Salzburg in the fortress at the top while enjoying stunning views of the city below. We ate our evening meal at Ludwig burgers which was a perfect place to eat with teens, we enjoyed home cooked burgers and I enjoyed a lovely glass of wine. It was a very short trip as part of our travels but we loved it and would definitely return to explore further.

I had such a great time in Salzburg!

I had such a great time in Salzburg! Spent a full month there and there’s honestly so much to do. I loved how much trust people have in each other—it’s beautiful to see that still exists. No matter the weather, it’s a great city: sunny days are perfect for strolling through the streets, and on rainy days you can relax with a nice coffee in one of the many cozy cafés. The Eagle’s Nest is an absolute must-visit. Even if you’re not into history, the views alone are breathtaking, and you get a fantastic look over Salzburg too. Shopping is great—there are plenty of stores and you can find pretty much anything you need. Public transport is also amazing. There’s a bus pretty much every 15 minutes, and as long as you check Google Maps you’ll have no trouble getting around. People are also very friendly and happy to help if you need directions. The food is excellent as well. I mostly enjoyed German and Austrian dishes, but if that’s not your thing, there are plenty of other options. From Italian to Turkish and everything in between, Salzburg has something for everyone. The city is super clean; I barely saw any trash anywhere. Salzburg has officially become my number one holiday destination. Next time, I’m bringing my girlfriend!

It's absolutely worth it's money. It isn't a luxury boutique or something but for the price offered it worth 100%. Room spacious, bed is comfortable. It's clean in the room and in a bathroom. We had very nice breakfast: yogurt, eggs with bacon, pastries, ham, cheese, juice, coffee. Don't expect a wide variety as in a big hotels, but it really nice, tasty and worth it's money. We do recommend and if it comes to visit Salzburg again we'll stay here again with pleasure.

The location was great for us, about a 15 min walk into the old town. The hotel was clean and the room was a great size. Staff were polite and helpful and you can buy the Salzburg Card from reception. They have an honesty bar which was really convenient. We didn't have breakfast because we read it was overpriced for what it was but their was a fridge in the room so we bought some yoghurts etc. Really nice touch having the fluffy robes in the room.
