The location is amazing and staff is very friendly and helpful. Considering that it advertises itself as a basic hotel, I think it was fairly represented: nothing fancy but a great option if you’re on a budget in Innsbruck.

FAQs about hotels in Innsbruck

Ski Resort of Royal Splendor

Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Alps, Innsbruck is not only a world-class European ski resort, it was also the seat of Maximilian I’s Holy Roman Empire.

This imperial legacy has left its mark, most notably in the Old Town where beautiful Rococo buildings sit beside pastel facades and typically Tyrolean, flower-adorned windows. The visitable Hofburg imperial court owes its modern appearance to the 18th-century Empress Maria Theresia.

The Hofkirche has a memorial tomb for Maximilian I, and his life is depicted in frescoes on the Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof) nearby, named after the gleaming copper tiles lining its entrance.

Flying into Innsbruck Airport, it’s easy to see why the city was so highly regarded. Practically every street ends with a view of the Alps, lush in summer, snowy white in winter. Nestled on a slope, Schloss Ambras was once the residence of Archduke Ferdinand II, and the area provides opportunities for summer mountain climbing, hiking and golf.

In the winter, of course, it’s all about the fantastic Innsbruck skiing and snowboarding. Ski areas include Nordkette mountain, accessible by cable car and chairlifts near the town’s hotels and B&Bs on Booking.com. Its varied slopes mean that several international competitions are held here, as well as the Bergiselschanze ski jump contest. The après-ski is laid-back and centered around chalet-style bars and traditional restaurants.

It’s easy to walk everywhere and the transport is very good if you want to go further afield. It’s quite expensive to eat in good restaurants but there are plenty of bars, cafes and pizza restaurants if you don’t want to splash the cash.

We came by train from Munich which was a lovely way to get there. Using Ubers worked really well to get from the station to our hotel. The scenery is breathtaking in its beauty and the town centre is divine. So many eating places. Quite different from Munich as far as food goes. Smaller portions and more Italian influence. There is still lots of beer. We spent two nights and that felt like a good amount of time. A must is to take the cable car up to the Top of Innsbruck. Spectacular!!

Innsbruck was a stunning town with amazing 360 views of snowey mountains. The river flowing through town was nice and the old part of town is well worth a visit. It exceeds all our expectations and I don’t think it get enough publicity back in Australia. This town should be put on peoples EU travel list

Everything was perfect! The hotel is in a quiet and safe area, a bit far from the city centre, but we received "Welcome card", so we could travel around Innsbruck free of charge, which was convenient. The room was small, but cosy, with comfy (soft) bed and beautiful view of the mountains, fast wi-fi, helpful staff, clean bathroom, A/C, delicious breakfast with fresh orange juice and tiroler speck... We would definitely come back! :-)

The location was perfect, near the train station and within walking distance to the city centre. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable and cozy. The bar on the 13th floor was lovely. Also, a good thing about the hotel was that even though our room faced the train station it was not loud at all. We had a good time so I would recommend Motel One Innsbruck, especially for a short stay!
