The city itself was very nice and it felt safe whilst walking about day and night. There are some fantastic restaurants in the city we never had a bad meal, just make sure you book a table at the popular restaurants. So many cake shops😃. The city buggy tours are a good way of seeing parts of the city as they stop at some important sites and let you get out to have a look around. Krakow is a clean city with lots of history. If you like Polish food and drink, eating out in Krakow will not put a big hole in your pocket. There are tours to the Salt Mines and Auschwitz that pick up in the city centre. We stayed in Krakow three days without any side trips. The highlights were the Wawel Castle and Cathedral, the stained glass workshop Muzeum Witrażu, the beautiful art nouveau stained glass windows of the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, and the klezmer and Chopin recitals at Sławkowska 14. Loved the history of Karkow and of Poland. Do a guided tour of the city with a local - well worth it. Caution when booking a guided tour for Auschwitz- it is very crowded and you are on a time frame in both prisons. It's historical interests are well documented with educational signage, making the city very walkable.
