Proximity to the airport was convenient. In room coffee maker worked. Room was large with a desk, microwave and small fridge. Air and heat worked well. The staff seemed nice enough but was apologizing all the time about broken things or mistakes that were made.

From the moment we booked to the moment we left - everything was prompt and prefectly executed. The service is attentive and personal, the room was a dream, with city views through floor to ceiling windows. We loved the little touches like chocolate strawberries for our anniversary and the fantastic room upgrade, as well as the rubber ducks. I think this is hands down the best hotel we have stayed at, ever. There is nothing that can be faulted.

FAQs about hotels in Vancouver

Outstanding Capital of the Outdoors

Vancouver is an outdoorsy city ranking among the world’s most livable, sheltered by Vancouver Island and the Pacific Range mountains. The most famous peak, Grouse Mountain, is a favorite spot for hiking and skiing. Take the cable car up for magnificent views of the city's skyscrapers and huge Stanley Park.

Skirting this park is the Seawall, a popular biking trail with paths passing the Vancouver Aquarium, picnic spots and a pitch and putt course. There are also a couple of beaches, but the best ones are along English Bay in Kitsilano.

Granville Island is just across False Creek from Yaletown and houses some quirky shops and markets. Ferries depart from here to near BC Place Stadium and home field of the city’s football and soccer teams. The legendary Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team play next door at Rogers Arena.

With the largest Chinatown in North America, Gastown is the oldest part of Vancouver and is near the Canada Place cruise ship terminal.

We could go on and on about British Columbia's biggest city, but we could never do it justice, so why not try it for yourself? Booking.com has a fabulous range of accommodations, from hotels near Vancouver Airport in Richmond to downtown B&Bs and motels near all of its ferry ports.

We made the mistake of walking out of the hotel without asking for recommendations and ended up in the Chinatown area in the evening. When we returned the staff were dismayed that we had gone without their help, even though it was our mishap, how could they know where we were going??? After that, we asked for help every time. They made perfect suggestions and even reservations for us.

There is so much to see in Vancouver.

There is so much to see in Vancouver. You can probably spend two weeks there and still not have seen everything. We got to see a lot in two days, but be aware of a lot of walking. The entrance prices to the Aquarium and the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park are ridiculous for what you get to see. The Aquarium is fairly small but impressive. The Capilano Suspension Bridge gives you some amazing views of the forest and river down below, with a lot of information on the round walk.

We spent 5 days in Vancouver out of our week long vacation which was too long in my opinion. The city is diseased, loads of homeless, drug addicts lining the streets. they are also quite close to the touristic area. We visited quite a few European cities and never experienced this level of despair. The drug epidemic in Vancouver is clearly getting out of control. I knew it was a problem but didn't think it was this extensive, had I known ahead of time I would have shorten our "city" visiting time and spend more time in the mountains, stanley park and victoria.

I've lived in Chicago yet I've never seen so many shops,...

I've lived in Chicago yet I've never seen so many shops, stores, restaurants shoved into such a small area. You want coffee in Gastown in the morning, walk 2 blocks in ANY direction. There's a bar or restaurant every 100ft. (30M) It's almost too much. Hit MOMO Sushi on Water St (gastown) for a meal that won't break the bank. Limited seating so expect to wait or get there early. Of course it would help if they didn't have three two tops pushed together to seat six and then sit only two ppl there. I guess separating the two other tables and sitting two or four more ppl isn't a thing. Being a restaurant owner for 19yrs it was painful to watch as our party of four waited 30 minutes for another table to open up. Gastown is perfect for proximity to stores/restaurants/transportation, although the area gets a little sketchy as you move east. Then again the prices drop a lot too. LOL. You can get a pint and a sandwich near the Hilton on Robson for $40+ or you can get a beer and a burger at The Cambie (Cordova and Cambie) from 3-9pm for $8. Depends on what kind of atmosphere you want. Hey, a cold beer is a cold beer. Very good mass transit system. You can take the Skytrain from the airport to Waterfront Station or other downtown stations and walk to your lodging. From Gastown You can even walk to Canada Place to board your cruise ship. No Ubers, taxis or rental car needed. We didn't have time for sightseeing but it seems like the main hub for excursions was either the Gastown or the Water Front area.

The best thing about the location is that it's a 5-minute walk from the Oakridge Skytrain station, which is on the same line as serves the airport and the Richmond night market, and continues to the center of the city to connect to Yaletown, Granville District and Waterfront station - so easy access to North Vancouver and Stanley Park. Mike, the guesthouse was gracious and helpful. The house is very quiet and the neighborhood feels suburban and safe. Parking on the street outside the house was not a problem.
