A vibrant city with a great mix of remarkably friendly people. Plenty to see and do and the food is great. Public transport is limited but taxis are cheap (but always ask how much it is to your destination before getting into the vehicle). There are pedestrian underpasses (with many vendors) on wider roads and many larger pedestrian only areas. aku – A Captivating Mix of Culture, History, and Warm Hospitality My recent trip to Baku was a truly memorable experience. The city offers a perfect blend of ancient heritage and modern charm. Walking through the Old City (Icherisheher) feels like stepping into a historical fairytale – with narrow alleys, stone buildings, and the majestic Maiden Tower. The Palace of the Shirvanshahs is also a must-see for anyone interested in the region’s royal past. Baku’s modern side is equally impressive. The Flame Towers light up the skyline, while the Heydar Aliyev Center is a masterpiece of contemporary architecture and design. The nearby Upland Park offers breathtaking views over the Caspian Sea, especially at sunset. I also had the chance to explore outside the city. Gobustan's ancient rock carvings and mud volcanoes are fascinating, and the Fire Mountain (Yanar Dag) is something truly unique – a natural flame that has been burning for centuries. I also visited the Fire Temple (Ateshgah), which gives deep insight into the ancient Zoroastrian culture. Food lovers will enjoy Baku’s culinary scene – I had delicious traditional meals at local restaurants like Dolma, where flavors are rich and portions are generous. What made the trip even more special was the warmth of the Azerbaijani people – always helpful, polite, and welcoming. Baku is not only beautiful but also full of life, culture, and heart. I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Everything was exceptionally clean and neat, with all the furniture looking new and well-organized. The room service was superb, and the location couldn't have been better. The staff were friendly, professional, and fluent in English, which made communication easy.
